CAPHENIA and Siemens Advance the Scaling of SAF and Sustainable Aviation Fuels
CAPHENIA and Siemens are combining their technological expertise to accelerate the industrial-scale production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), including synthetic kerosene, as well as other renewable fuels.
As a technology partner, Siemens provides digitalization solutions such as process control systems, drive technology, instrumentation, and process simulation software — key components for CAPHENIA’s efficient Power- and Biogas-to-Liquid production plants.
The joint objective is to equip CAPHENIA’s Plasma-Boudouard-Reactor technology for scalable, site-flexible, and industrial deployment, thereby making a decisive contribution to the decarbonization of aviation and meeting the growing global demand for SAF.
“This partnership shows how technology leaders are working together to drive forward the energy transition. Siemens brings the portfolio and expertise to standardize and digitalize our plants. But the real point is this: the market for sustainable aviation fuels will not grow evenly – it will fragment. Those who scale quickly, those who are industrial-ready, those who have the right partners will lead. Together, we are not only laying the foundation for the international ramp-up of our PBR technology – we want to lead it,” – Dr. Mark Misselhorn, founder and CEO of CAPHENIA
“Decarbonizing aviation cannot be achieved without synthetic fuels. Demand for SAF is growing exponentially, yet production capacity urgently needs to be ramped up. This is exactly where Siemens comes in: with our digitalization and automation solutions, we are making CAPHENIA’s technology industrially scalable and thus accelerating its global market ramp-up.” – Christian Gückel, Head of Vertical Chemicals at Siemens Digital Industries

Dr. Christian Librera Appointed New Chief Operating Officer (COO) of CAPHENIA
As Chief Operating Officer (COO) of CAPHENIA, Dr. Christian Librera is responsible for the operational implementation and industrial scaling of the CAPHENIA technology. His focus is on transferring the innovative Plasma-Boudouard Reactor Technology (PBR) from the pilot plant to industrial scale and building an efficient production infrastructure for renewable fuels.
CAPHENIA begins final construction phase of the demo plant “GERMANY I” at the industrial site in Frankfurt-Höchst.
The Bavarian clean-tech company CAPHENIA has successfully reached a significant milestone: The custom-built reactor with its unique Plasma-Boudouard technology (PBR) has been transported to the production site at the Frankfurt-Höchst industrial park, where it is now being integrated into the existing facility.
